Because I really enjoyed the Jump Rope dress pattern from oliver + s, I decided to get another one, the Sailboat Top, Skirt & Pants pattern to complete an outfit I got at Gymboree for monkey pants. As monkey pants gets older, I’m not drawn to Gymboree’s matchy-matchy lines as much but I couldn’t resist this adorable panda top and black short sleeve cardigan. I was shopping with coupons so that was all I was going to get. The pants didn’t appeal to me that much anyway. There was a cute black denim mini skirt but it also had a panda face on it and I thought that would be a bit much.

For those who are impressed with Obama winning the Nobel Prize for peace, let’s remember a few of the other recipients. One was Yasir Arafat, and we know how much he did for world peace!
I just experienced an example of why medical costs are so high. I had a few stitches taken out at Pentucket Medical with a pair of high-quality, stainless steel scissors that probably cost $20. When the nurse was done, she dumped them into the biohazard disposal box. These could have easily been sterilized and reused many, many times. Instead, the medical practice will need to buy thousands of them and then fill up a hazardous waste landfill with them.

The showboat Becky Thatcher glided safely into port at Neville Island on the Ohio River just north of Pittsburgh Friday.
“She pulled into the docks at 9 a.m. and made the trip here perfectly,” said Jeff Levin, owner of the 80-year-old sternwheeler that was towed out of Marietta Wednesday morning after being moored for more than 34 years in the Pioneer City.

Ellen Jante honored as local hero for Parkinson’s work
MILWAUKEE – Ellen Jante of Union Grove received the Local Hero Award during the Davis Phinney Foundation’s Victory Summit on Oct. 10 at the Wyndham Milwaukee Airport Hotel.
Following her husband Dale’s diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease more than 20 years ago when he was 43 years old, Jante became actively involved in the local Parkinson’s community in part by developing programs and recruiting professional speakers for the support group she co-facilitates to educate patients and caregivers, and speaking to groups of physical, speech and occupational therapists about working with PD patients. She is also a champion of major change in Medicare reimbursement for people with PD.

In a 1,000-seat open-air auditorium, the middle-aged auctioneer rat-a-tat-tats through a series of quickly escalating prices.
“Look at the rubber on this little puppy,” he says as a Caterpillar wheel loader rolls onto the auction runway atop chest-high black tires.
Within a minute it’s sold for $72,000 and another loader, hoisting an iron bucket capable of handling 600 gallons of dirt, takes its place.
