I’ve heard it said that “You’ve got to understand all of it if you’re going to understand any of it.” Though it seems impossible to explain this project in just a few sentences, I will give it a shot : We are going to gather a crew of filmmakers, artists, musicians, writers, scientists, mystics, freaks, lovers and fishermen. Then we are going to chronicle a range of developments and speculations of that crew, while aboard a neo-futuristic,steampunkstyle ocean vessel on a very unusual circumnavigation of the globe. This voyage will take one full year to complete on a very particular time schedule, on a very particular course connecting four very particular points around the globe. Much fascinating and undeniably meaningful synchronicity is associated with the development of the project thus far, and we fully expect these to continue and evolve into truly legendary experiences, captured and broadcast on digital film and otherwise. Here is the story of how this project came to be discovered, that helps set-up the fantastic potential of what is to come.

This fascinating hobby is enjoyed by people of all ages around the world. Model boat building is almost as old as recorded history, and examples dating back to Phoenician and Ancient Egyptian times may be found in museums. Although model sailboats were originally made for ceremonial or religious purposes, early examples have also been found that appear to have been made just for fun. For many years scale boat models were also used in boatyards instead of drawings, to explain what was required to craftsmen who did not know how to read drawings.

One of my favourite spots in Toronto is the Toronto Islands, that lovely patch of land right in front of downtown Toronto, separated by just a sliver of water. So close, yet so far from the city’s hustle and bustle. One of the biggest events on the Islands is the Toronto Dragonboat Festival, a family event organized by the Toronto Chinese Business Association. In addition to being a great entertainment event, the Dragonboat Festival is also a big fundraiser for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, so it’s not just fun, it’s also for a good cause.

My daughter and I decided today to play with My Digital Studio. The weather outside is horrible and, with my son and husband at soccer, we had a bunch of time on our hands.

We decided to go with a photo only layout that we could personalize and decided to make a page using some photos we took at our City’s annual Spirit of the Sea festival.

There are a few safety features on a sailbot that should undoubtedly be installed. Fire alarms should be installed on a sailboat, below deck. It is equally as important to test this boat fire alarm once a month to make sure it is working adequately and properly. Sailors are left unknowingly vulnerable when the fire alarm batteries run out of juice, as they often do. The fire alarm which is purchased and installed should definitely be loud in pitch when going off. This will ensure that it will be loud enough to hear all around the boat.
